Dear Mr. Dieter
I hope something can be done to assist Phillip Workman is his defence. I was a Memphis Police Officer working the night Lt. Oliver was killed and Officer Stoddard was injured. My husband was also working that night. Officer Stoddard and Parker arrived after Lt. Oliver disregarded everyone. I was getting ready to turn into Wendy's when we were disregarded. I would have been next to the scene
Parker and I had been partners the month previously. He asked to be moved because he did not like having a female partner.
Parker is now an Assistant U.S. Attorney and still can't tell the truth.

The night of Aug. 5, 1981, after the shooting I was directing traffic next of Wendy's when a hysterical woman, her husband and young son stopped. They were witnesses to the shooting. She saw a white Officer shoot the policeman.
They refused their names and adreses. They were going home to the next county, Lipton County. I got the licence numbers on the truck. When the Captain returned to work, I advised him about what the woman said. He told me to forget it and worry about my baby. I was pregnant at the time and was refused a desk job. My husband and his partner found Workman's gun. His gun was a 45.

This was one of the Memphis Police Department's cover ups. Officers were selected to be interviewed by the detectives and to testify the case. The Captain married Lt. Oliver's widow shortly after his death. Lt. Oliver was not aware of that relationship.
The legal adviser on the scene that night did not check Parker's gun. Everyone knew how trigger happy he was. He was allowed to be an attorney and work on the M.P.D. at the same time, even though officers could not work for attorneys. He recently retired
I had to retire in November 1999 due to a back injury and being bitten by a pit bull on duty. My husband has thirty years on the job. My daughter is a deputy marshal with the U.S. Marshal's office in Memphis.

I am in prison on a false accusation charge where AUSA (Assistant U.S. Attorney) Parker was going to seize my husband's job if I did not plead guilty.
I was never indicted. I owned a driving school, was accused of helping illegals get identification. Every student had a valid Tennessee identification card issued by the Tn. Dept. of Safety, including the five illegals the Tn. Terrorism Task Force sent in on October 12, 2002. On deposition the five illegals gave before they were deported, three had never seen me and two saw me in the classroom. The last two had separate depositions and could tell they had seen pictures of us.
I was accused of living in a $ 400,000 house, paying cash for my cars, even though I had SMAC payment books for all of them. I was accused of having a very lucrative business.
Two FBI agents said they would not have gone on the raid if they had known the facts. They said it was wrong. Their search warrant was for suites 107 and 108. They took my bank deposit and records from 106.

Since this happened everyone except Stoddard has benefited greatly. Officer Stoddard has had to medically retire due to his injury.
Keeping the "secret" has caused him to have a miserable life, he has aged quickly.
My husband's partner is now appointed police director. He was promoted often. The legal advisor's secretary-officer, never worked in the uniform patrol but got promoted every time she had enough time. She had no clue what real officers did. She and her husband were chiefs before they retired. City appointees are required to live in the city, they lived in Mississippi.
Judge Bernice Donald gave Workman his stay of execution. She is a good fair judge. She was a former state judge.

I tried through the years to get people to look into the case, but no one cared. My husband never wanted to talk about it until now. He sees how lies can ruin lives.
A lot of police officers think their lives are more valuable than the citizens they agreed to serve and protect.
If I can be of any help, let me know.
Parker, Stoddard and Clide Keenan (the attorney) have been able to use perjury in the case.
            Sincerely,
